Plastic-bonded-magnets
Plastic-bonded permanent magnets consist of a plastic matrix (polyamide or epoxy resin) and powdered magnetic materials embedded in the matrix. NdFeB, SmCo and ferrites are most commonly used for the permanent magnet powders. The magnetic and mechanical properties of plastic-bonded magnets are determined by the choice of material composition and manufacturing process. Despite the lower magnetic properties of the plastic-bonded magnets compared to the solid materials, the applications are steadily increasing. A major advantage of the plastic-bonded magnets lies in the great variety of shaping possibilities of the magnets. For example, complex contours and geometries can be realized by injection molding.
